Viaje de Lulabel El programa de pasantías IWorks

Julio 29, 2025 | Spotlight

Myname es lulabel. I’m from Boston. Habiendo sido criado en Roxbury, Valoro profundamente a nuestra comunidad y disfruto pasar tiempo al aire libre..

Antes de ingresar a la fuerza laboral, Me conecté con amigos, familia, and the Department of Children and Families to explore job programs for youth, since online applications weren’t effective for me. That’s when I found iWorks, a supportive team that helps people find job opportunities.

My experience working with the iWorks Internship Program so far has been amazing. I was shy and unfamiliar with everyone—I was even shy with myself when it came to learning new skills. But we gained valuable insights into job preparation for teens, covering appropriate attire, essential purchases, and effective strategies for successful interviews.

Although the paperwork initially slowed down the interview process, the day of the interviews proceeded smoothly. Dressed in professional attire, we eagerly awaited our turn. When called, I faced my fear and completed three interviews. The anticipation for the results was intense, but I was offered two positions.

I chose CFP’s Development Team—a team dedicated to supporting youth and families in need and working to strengthen our communities.

“It has been a pleasure working with Lulabel, even in just a short couple of weeks. She is eager to learn, stays on task, and is enthusiastic. We’re looking forward to the weeks ahead.”

CFP is proud to work in partnership with Suffolk University’s Moakley Center for Public Management, and the Department of Children and Families to support youth career development through our iWorks Internship Program. This innovative initiative connects youth with meaningful internships, empowering them with real-world experience, mentorship, and a vision for their future careers.

The kickoff event, iWorks Interview Day, held on Suffolk University’s vibrant downtown Boston campus, brought together impressive youth from Greater Boston who rotated through interviews with employers across various fields. From government offices and nonprofits to media and finance, these employers showed up ready to meet, encourage, and invest their time in young talent.

The day was more than just interviews—it was a boost of confidence, a networking opportunity, and a launchpad for many youth entering the workforce for the first time.

This program is about more than summer jobs. It’s about equity, access, and showing young people that their voices, habilidades, and futures matter. We’re deeply grateful to Suffolk University and all participating employers for making this initiative possible.

We pay youth interns directly, so as an employer you just need to have time to supervise someone new to the working world. The Autumn iWorks session begins on September 10, so contact Eve Rabinowitz at erabinowitz@c4p.org now to learn more about hosting an intern!
